Secure personal knowledge management

All your ideas under one roof.

Notehouse is a personal workspace for notes, research, and tasks. Everything you write is a plain Markdown file, so your ideas stay connected in the app and readable outside it.

Free to use. Distribution through GitHub is coming next.

Features

Write it down. Find it again. Act on it.

Notehouse is organized around three habits that make a personal library worth keeping.

  1. 01 Write and connect

Write notes that point to each other.

Type two brackets to link one note to another. Links are ordinary Markdown text, so they stay readable anywhere, and each note can show where an idea has already come up.

    • Markdown with a clean editing view
    • Links and backlinks between notes
    • Folders you arrange yourself
  2. 02 Find earlier thinking

Bring back what you already worked out.

Search across everything you have written, and see related notes beside the one you are reading. The point is to meet last month’s thinking before you redo it.

    • Full text search across your notes
    • Related notes alongside the page
    • Search that runs on your device
  3. 03 Keep tasks in context

Keep each task next to the reason for it.

Tasks are Markdown checkboxes inside the notes where they came up. A task view gathers what is open without pulling it away from the reasoning behind it.

    • Checkboxes in plain Markdown
    • Open tasks gathered in one view
    • One click back to the source note

Principles

Built so your notes outlast any one app.

Plain files
Every note is a Markdown file in a folder you choose. You can read, back up, or move your notes without Notehouse.
Local search
Search and related notes work from an index kept with your files, so finding something does not depend on a remote server.
Your choice of AI tools
Notehouse is useful without AI. If you want help from a model, you decide which tool to use and when to use it.

Notehouse is free.

Distribution through GitHub is coming next. The Get Notehouse page keeps the current status.
